We are glad to announce the start of our first bioreactor, which will operate to select biomass capable of accumulating biopolymers.

This corresponds to the first step towards a functioning PHA-EPS bioreactor since the biomass producing our intended biopolymers needs to be produced in the first place. Our team VALORBIO-ICRA concluded that the wastewater profile from Liquats Vegetals was the most suitable due to the high carbon load, but also the presence of other macronutrients. The operation will follow a typical Sequencial Batch Bioreactor (SBR) configuration, adjusted depending on the needs that might arise over time. It was not as easy as we would like, but the effort is worth it, and we hope the results will pay off.
